TAFE Queensland is the largest provider of vocational and educational training within Queensland and plays an essential role in delivering a skilled workforce to the state. Over 800 programs are provided by TAFE Queensland to more than 250,000 people statewide. Within an environment of changing industry and labour market needs, TAFE institutes have adapted training to respond to new and emerging fields such as aquaculture, biotechnology, marine engineering, aged care and graphic design while maintaining a core industry focus.

Providing training in highly sought after trade areas is a high priority for TAFE Queensland. The Queensland Skills Plan, launched in 2006, represents the state government's commitment to creating a flexible, modern and innovative education and training system. This has led to the establishment of the statewide trade and technician skills institute, SkillsTech Australia. It is the lead institute for product development and delivery throughout Queensland for automotive, building and construction, manufacturing, engineering, electrical/electronics, and emerging energies.

TAFE institutes and programs

There are 13 institutes within the TAFE Queensland network, delivering a wide range of nationally recognised programs at more than 100 locations across metropolitan and regional areas. Links with industry

TAFE Queensland works with some of Australia's leading companies as well as international firms, governments and organisations. TAFE Queensland is responsive to industry needs and provides relevant tailored training to industry groups using flexible delivery methods. TAFE training is delivered in the workplace, on-line, in virtual classrooms and in state-of-the-art training facilities such as workshops and simulators. TAFE Queensland teachers play an important role designing and delivering cost-effective training solutions for industry and business.
